Electric vehicle fire safety training
Electric vehicles (EVs) have been gaining popularity in recent years as a more environmentally-friendly alternative to traditional gasoline-powered cars. However, like any vehicle, EVs can catch fire under certain conditions. While the number of EVs catching fire is not very large in terms of numbers, the incidents all make the news because these types of lithium battery fires are more difficult to control. Water does not always do what it does in regular car fires, and it also takes (much) longer to secure the car and its surroundings. The Fire Isolator concept should be quickly deployed in the case of a lithium car fire where the battery is also on fire and where water extinguishing is not an option. Training in our concept to successfully control and isolate EV car fires is therefore very important to achieve the maximum result with the concept. In this article, we will explore the causes of EV fires, the steps being taken to prevent them, and what to do in the event of an EV fire.
What will you learn during our Electric Vehicle fire safety training by Fire Isolator?
Electric vehicle (EV) fire safety training by our Fire Isolator team is an important step in ensuring the safe and quick deployment of our Fire Isolator concept onboard ships, in carparks or any other location. As the number of EVs on the road continues to increase, it is crucial for first responders, fire fighters, mechanics, and other individuals who may come into contact with EVs to have the necessary knowledge and skills to safely handle our Fire Isolator blanket, aerosol units and water mist lance and respond to EV fires. This training covers a variety of topics including the unique characteristics of EV fires, proper response protocols for our Fire Isolator concept, and the use of our specialized Fire Isolator equipment. By providing this training, we can help to prevent and mitigate the potential dangers associated with EV fires, and promote the safe use of these vehicles.
For customers and dealers of Fire Isolator we offer a full day Electric Vehicle Fire safety training program. During this training, our Fire Isolator Master Trainer shares a lot of insights on the phenomenon of EV car fires, the differences between regular car fires and electric vehicle fires are covered, the phenomenon of fires in Light Electric Vehicles, such as eScooters and eBikes is discussed and the Fire Isolator concept is explained in detail. The second part of this training day is dedicated to dry training with the Fire Isolator concept on a real (not burning) car. Quick unpacking and unfolding of the fire blanket are practiced, as well as quick placement over the burning car. Then applying the aerosol units and water mist lance is practiced.
Upon successful completion of this training, participants will own the Fire Isolator Training Certificate.
